U-19 World Cup for Cricket started in 1988, with Australia winning the first title. This tournament was back then referred to as "Youth World Cup". Up to today, Australia has been the most successful team at winning the most cups, a total of 3 times. Pakistan has also been a very successful team, reaching the final a total 4 times, out of which they won two. Pakistan also has the record of winning two back-to-back Under-19 World Cups. India has also managed to lift this trophy twice. The only other team besides the 3 above-mentioned team is England, that has won 1 world cup so far.

Under 19 World Cup is interesting to watch for many reasons. One most important reason to watch is to witness the athleticism of this young athletes. Their fielding is usually very good, and competition is tough, as every team fights for the title with all their might. Another entertaining factor of such world cups is that you get to know the players that are likely to make it to the national team with in a year or two. In previous World Cups, Tim Southee gained fame during the U-19 World Cup. India's superstar Virat Kohli also gained his popularity from performing brilliantly during the Under 19 World Cup. Pakistan's Umar Akmal was also seen in the Under 19 World Cup representing his team. Thus, this tournament is captivating for many reasons.
